About me January 30, 2008
Welcome to Verda Vivo Cooks. My name is Daryl. My husband and I just moved to southern Arizona after
living in the Seattle area for 13 years. We both recently retired from a ginormous (I love that word) forest products company headquartered in the Pacific Northwest. For the bulk of my career, I worked in Human Resources and then HR Information Systems.
I grew up on a potato farm on Long Island, New York with my two sisters, horses, dogs, and cats. Our neighbors were all family and no one locked their doors. We had our own baseball field, a huge family garden (enough for 5 families) and sold strawberries in the summer when we had too many. We even had our own family business on the farm, Warner Potato Chips. I am a farm girl at heart.
Verda Vivo means “green living” in the language of Esperanto, a constructed international language. I started this blog in January 2008 as a way to document recipes I’ve tried and enjoyed. I love to cook but rarely follow a recipe let alone use a measuring cup or spoon. We recently purchased a share in Community Supported Agriculture (C.S.A.) which offers an opportunity to try new vegetables and experiment with new recipes.
